Privacy Policy.

This policy explains how Michael Black (“we”, “us”) handles personal information collected through itsmichaelblack.com (the “site”). We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

The short version

• The site doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies, and doesn’t track you across other websites.
• We only receive personal information when you choose to contact us.
• We use it to respond to you, and we never sell it.

Information we collect

When you contact us

If you use the contact form or email us, we receive the details you provide, such as your name, email address, organisation, event details and message. The contact form opens your own email app with your message pre-filled, so it reaches us as a normal email that you send.

Technical information

Like all websites, the servers that host the site (Vercel Inc.) automatically process basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site securely and reliably, and is not used by us to identify you.

Information stored in your browser

The contact form saves the time of your last submission in your browser’s local storage. This helps prevent accidental duplicate messages. It contains no personal information, isn’t a cookie and is never sent to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

How we use your information

• To respond to your enquiry, such as speaking requests, media requests and collaboration proposals
• To arrange and deliver any event, interview or collaboration you ask us about
• To keep the site secure and working properly

We don’t add you to a mailing list or use your details for marketing unless you ask us to.

Third-party content and links

Videos on the site come from YouTube. Their preview images load from YouTube’s image servers, and the video player itself only loads when you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once a video plays, Google’s own privacy policy applies.

The site links to other websites, including Success Tutoring, Black Franchise Group, booksellers, news outlets and social media. We’re not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.

Sharing and storage

We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information. We may share it with service providers who help us run the site or respond to you (such as our website host and email provider), or where the law requires it. Some of these providers may store data outside Australia, including in the United States. When that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We keep enquiry emails only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping, and we take reasonable steps to protect them from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

Your rights

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing michael@successtutoring.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your personal information, please contact us first at michael@successtutoring.com and we’ll work to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add new features to the site. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
